Steven Lemay

Working alongside Shannah Segal was the incomparable Steven LeMay. The values I previously highlighted with respect to Usability Matters were exuded by Steven with every interaction.

Steven brings confidence to his work in usability and experience with a light touch. He would use words like “no” very sparingly and instead ask more questions to understand the product you were developing and your perspective. I always looked forward to a design meeting with Steven as he allowed us to be part of the creative process while maintaining control over the discovery and design process.

Clients tend to want to give their opinions and have their concept implemented and magically tweaked by a consultant or agency. Steven was adept at not letting members of our team including myself, force design element decisions too early. He calmly and carefully asked question after question about our business, strategy, and most importantly customers, to better target the value of what we were offering and the best way to present that to our clients.

In addition to years of UX experience, Steven is an excellent facilitator. His calm professionalism puts you at ease. The process did not seem wasteful nor rushed. We were allowed to wander to be creative but not get too far off track. I always enjoyed meetings with Steven as they barely seemed like work. I have to remember to bring that level of engagement to my creative meetings. It’s for all these reasons he’s on My52.
